Who can access our service?

Our programme is open to people with a brain injury and their carers living in the Basingstoke and North Hampshire region, as follows:

Alton, Basingstoke, Baughurst, Bordon, Bramley, Chineham, Cliddesden, Dummer, Farleigh Wallop, Hartley Wintney, Headley, Herriard, Hook, Kingsclere, Newnham, Oakley, Odiham, Old Basing, Overton, Ramsdell, Tadley, Upton Grey, North Waltham, North Warnborough, South Warnborough, Whitchurch.

These areas are within the North Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) area.

We also work with people outside this area if you have an individual funding agreement (which may be awarded through your GP by your local CCG). If you’re not sure whether you fall into our catchment area, you can check the list of doctor’s surgeries in the North Hampshire CCG.

Making a Referral
There are several ways in which you can be referred to Headway Basingstoke. These referrals can be made by a healthcare professional or you can self-refer.

We accept referrals for adults with a confirmed diagnosis of acquired brain injury resulting from causes including stroke, brain tumour, encephalitis and traumatic brain injury. The person must be over 18 however, and their injury will have occurred in adulthood. Confirmation of brain injury will be sought from medical professionals working with the individual in cases of self-referral or referrals from a non-clinician – this will take additional time.

The easiest way to refer is by downloading and completing the Referral Form. Provide as much information as possible to enable the Headway team to make informed decisions and effective assessment of needs. The completed form should be emailed back to the Referrals Administrator or you can post it to us at the address at the bottom of the page.

Our Carers Services are open to anyone providing care and or support to someone with a confirmed brain injury living in the Basingstoke and North Hampshire area. This may include spouses, partners, parents, siblings, other family members or close friends.
