As from the 13th September 2021, we’ll be running Fun Day Monday for clients who have lost significant social networks as a result of the COVID Pandemic. Our Fun Day Monday will provide clients with access to support and social inclusion activities to aid mental wellbeing, regain confidence in being outside of the home and engage in fun activities related to long term rehabilitation and maintenance.
Activities include:
Playing pool
Creating cards
Playing games
Creating wooden puzzles and models
Socialising over tea or coffee
Ceramics
Calligraphy
And many more activities
Structure of the day
The day will consist of two sessions; session one from 9.30 to 12.00 and session two from 13.00 to 15.30.
The period from 12.00 to 13.00 will be a staff and volunteer rest period therefore the building will be clear of all clients.
Each session will accommodate a maximum of 15 clients.
We’re looking for support volunteers to work with staff to help meet the needs of the clients during these sessions.
What qualifications are needed to be a support volunteer?
Becoming a support volunteer doesn’t require any specific qualifications. Experience in the care sector is helpful but not required.
When starting a support volunteer role, Headway will provide relevant training and mentoring providing an insight into the roles and responsibilities of your job role.
As a support volunteer for Headway you’ll have access an induction programme where you will learn about our organisational values and our person-centred approach to service delivery.
If you have spare time to cover one of these sessions on a Monday, then we would like to meet you. Contact Carol Self, Senior Administrator by email at carol.self@nhs.net or telephone 01256-962849.
